Terms of service

Last updated: April 24, 2026

These Terms of Service govern access to and use of DeafNews, an editorial platform dedicated to news, analysis and in-depth articles on technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, hardware, software and digital innovation.

By accessing or using the site, the user declares to have read, understood and accepted these Terms. If you do not intend to accept them, you must stop using the service.

1. Scope of service

DeafNews provides an informational and editorial service that allows users to consult articles, topic pages, hashtags, related content, aggregate statistics and features connected to reading and sharing content.

Some content may be organised, summarised or published with the support of software tools and editorial automations. DeafNews reserves the right to update, modify, expand or reduce service features at any time.

2. Editorial nature and informational limits

Content published on DeafNews is for informational and educational purposes only. Unless otherwise stated, it does not constitute professional, legal, financial, tax, medical or personalised technical advice.

Users are solely responsible for decisions made based on information consulted on the site and must independently verify the suitability of information for their specific situation.

3. Usage requirements

The user agrees to use DeafNews in a lawful, correct manner consistent with applicable regulations, without causing harm to the platform, other users or third parties.

In particular, the following are not permitted:

  • using the site for unlawful, fraudulent or rights-infringing purposes
  • attempting to breach site security or circumvent technical protection measures
  • interfering with service operation through scripts, bots, abusive scraping or abnormal traffic
  • publishing or transmitting offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, unlawful or misleading content
  • collecting other users' personal data without a valid legal basis

4. Accounts and credentials

Some features of DeafNews may require account creation. The user agrees to provide accurate, current and complete data and to keep it updated.

The user is responsible for the confidentiality of their credentials and all activities carried out through their account. In case of unauthorised access, misuse or suspected compromise, the user must contact DeafNews promptly.

DeafNews may suspend, restrict or close an account in the event of a breach of these Terms, security reasons, legal obligations or misuse of the platform.

5. Comments and user-submitted content

When the service allows the publication of comments, feedback or other content, the user remains solely responsible for what they publish and guarantees they hold all necessary rights over submitted materials.

User content must not:

  • infringe copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, likeness or privacy of third parties
  • contain spam, unauthorised promotions, malware or malicious links
  • incite hatred, violence, discrimination or unlawful behaviour
  • contain third-party personal data published without a valid legal basis

By publishing content on the site, the user grants DeafNews a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable licence for the duration necessary to manage the service, to host, reproduce, adapt, archive, display and make such content available within the platform and its distribution channels.

6. Moderation and enforcement

DeafNews may, without prior notice, remove or restrict access to content, comments, accounts or features when it considers, in good faith, that doing so is necessary to:

  • enforce these Terms
  • prevent abuse, fraud, spam or security risks
  • comply with legal obligations or requests from competent authorities
  • protect users, third parties, infrastructure or the service's reputation

7. Intellectual property

Unless otherwise stated, the site, editorial structure, software, design, original texts, layouts, the DeafNews brand and other distinctive elements of the platform are protected by intellectual property law and belong to DeafNews or their respective owners.

Users may consult content for personal, lawful and non-commercial use. Copying, reproducing, distributing, publishing, reselling or systematically exploiting site content without prior written authorisation is not permitted, except as allowed by applicable law.

8. Third-party content and external links

DeafNews may cite external sources, incorporate third-party content or contain links to sites, services, products or platforms not directly controlled by DeafNews.

Such references are provided for informational convenience. DeafNews does not continuously monitor these external resources and assumes no responsibility for the availability, content, policies, practices, accuracy or security of third-party services.

9. Service availability

DeafNews endeavours to keep the service reasonably available, but does not guarantee that the site is always accessible, error-free, updated in real time or immune to interruptions, delays, vulnerabilities or technical incompatibilities.

Maintenance, updates, failures, force majeure events, cyberattacks or network issues may result in temporary suspensions or service limitations.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent permitted by law, the service and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without express or implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, reliability, fitness for a particular purpose, continuity or freedom from errors.

DeafNews does not warrant that the site is free of bugs, viruses or harmful components, while committing to adopt reasonable technical protection and maintenance measures.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, DeafNews is not liable for indirect, consequential, reputational, data loss, lost opportunity, lost profit or business interruption damages arising from the use of or inability to use the site.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including non-waivable rights recognised to users qualifying as consumers.

12. Indemnification

The user agrees to hold DeafNews harmless, to the extent permitted by law, from claims, demands or third-party complaints arising from unlawful use of the service, breach of these Terms or publication of content that infringes third-party rights.

13. Privacy and cookies

The processing of personal data and the use of cookies are governed by the dedicated pages: Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

14. Changes to the Terms

DeafNews may modify or update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect upon publication on the site, unless otherwise stated.

Continued use of the service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Applicable law and non-waivable rights

These Terms are governed by Italian law, subject to the possible application of more favourable mandatory rules recognised to the user as a consumer under the law of their habitual country of residence.

Non-waivable rights provided by applicable consumer protection, data protection and e-commerce laws remain in force in any case.
